Open Apiary Arcadia (Missouri)

beekeepers

Description

Open Apiary times are an informal unstructured gathering of members of the Great Plains Master Beekeeping program at the Arcadia Academy in Arcadia, Missouri. There will be brief demonstrations, questions and answers, and time to get hands on experience with honey bees. Open Apiary times will be from 4:00-6:00 pm. The open apiaries will be the third Thursday of the month starting in April and ending in October. This activity will count as 2 hours of field training towards your progress through the Great Plains Master Beekeeping program.

Topics for each session will be appropriate for the normal bee management activities for the month as well as to address specific needs of the attendees.

You must bring your protective gear in order to participate.

Class size limitations will be based on the number of GPMB certified experienced beekeepers present to teach. Gregg Hitchings, Belleview Valley Apiary, will be lead instructor assisted by Teresa Campbell and Henry Long, depending on their availability.

Participants may choose to continue the "bee talk" during dinner at Thee Abbey following the apiary instruction.
