Audience: This course is free to Active, Retired, Reserve, National Guard, and any branch of service, and immediate family. Individuals under the age of 19 are considered minors and require a guardian’s presence and signed approval.
Courtney Brummel and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Bee Lab will be offering a program called Bee Wellness, designed to help veterans learn techniques for calming their minds and bodies while engaging in beekeeping. The program incorporates mindfulness practices such as meditation, yoga, guided imagery, and grounding exercises, all of which are aligned with the Whole Health approach.
During Bee Wellness, veterans and their dependents have the opportunity to:
- Explore beekeeping without financial barriers
- Practice mindfulness in ways they may not have considered before
- interact with live honey bees and use bees as a calming tool
- Foster social connections with others

June 18th, Wednesday 6p-7p
July 3rd, Thursday 6p-7p

University of Nebraska Lincoln Pollinator Garden and Outdoor Classroom here
(north of Holdrege St & 48th St. Must enter via north west: East Campus Loop then Fair St)
*please note, there are no buildings here and the only bathroom is a porta john.
Please bring: closed-toed shoes, pants, water
Expectations upon arrival:
- UNL Bee Lab will provide bee suits and all beekeeping protective equipment
- UNL Bee Lab will conduct introductions and a safety brief. We will have required safety waivers to enter the bee yard
- Parking is gravel and the bee yard has an incline, so please let us know if you have any physical limitations so we can plan accordingly.
