UNL Level 1 Beekeeping Workshop
This is an introductory level course that focuses on everything you need to start beekeeping, including topics on beekeeping equipment, protective gear, honey bee biology, stressors, and management basics. Session I of the course includes lectures, hands-on activities, and demos by several speakers. Session II of the course is field day training that gets you in the hives and takes the lessons from Session I into practice. Learn how to setup the equipment, install and handle bees safely, and perform hive inspections.
Session I (Lecture): Saturday March 15th, 2025 9 a.m. - 4 p.m CST, Classroom at Schramm Education Center, Gretna, NE. Located on Highway 31, approximately 6 miles south of Exit 432 on I-80.
Session II (Field Day): Saturday April 12th, 2025 1 p.m. - 5 p.m CST, Pollinator Garden on East Campus, UNL Apiary, GPS: 40.828970, -96.655257
Cost: Registration required and cost is $80 per person, 15% off for each additional family member and/or students with valid ID (must attach picture upon registration) | Optional $15 fee for a physical workbook.
This course also is paired with a field day. Your spot will not be reserved until your check for payment is received.
