Description

Open Apiary times are an informal unstructured gathering of members of the Great Plains Master Beekeeping program. There will be brief demonstrations, questions and answers, and time to get hands on experience with beehives. Open Apiary will count as 2 hours of field training towards your progress through the Great Plains Master Beekeeping program. 

Beekeepers: Joli Winer & Cecil Sweeney

Mentoring at our hives on the 4th Thursday of the month plus some other dates! Meet at the home of Joli and Cecil at 6pm at 19201 S. Clare Rd., Spring Hill KS.  We appreciate a phone call or text to know that people are coming, 913-593-3562. Each time we will identify queens, eggs, larvae, light and use a smoker, do a powdered sugar mite check and talk about what you should be doing with your bees that month.

Please bring your beekeeping clothing. We have some extra clothing if you do not have anything.  We invite you to go through our hives with us on the following dates: Thursday March 23rd (weather dependent)., Thursday April 13th & 27th, Thursday May 25th, Thursday June 22, Thursday July 27th, Thursday August 24th, Thursday September 28th. Each time we will identify queens, eggs, larvae, do a powdered sugar mite check and talk about what you should be doing with your bees that month.
